What is Ganciclovir 0.15% eye gel?

Ganciclovir eye gel is used for the treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic and geographic ulcers).  It is licensed in the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and USA. However, not licensed for use in Australia.

What is Ganciclovir used for?

Ganciclovir 0.15% eye gel and other brands including Virgan®, are supplied under Special Access Scheme (SAS) A & B for the treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic and geographic ulcers).

The SAS A & B system requires the prescriber to notify The TGA of the use.
