What is Ripasudil 0.4% Eye Drops?

Ripasudil Eye Drops is a Rho-Kinase inhibitor licensed in Japan.  The ophthalmic solution, Ripasudil 0.4% eye drops, and other brands including Glanatec are not licensed in Australia.

Supply of Ripasudil Eye Drops in Australia

Ripasudil Eye Drops and brands including Glanatec® are often supplied under Special Access Scheme (SAS) C for the treatment of: 

  • Refractory corneal oedema,
  • Refractory glaucoma.

The SAS C system just requires the prescriber to notify The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of the use of this product

If a prescriber requires many patients to use Ripasudil 0.4% eye drops, or other brands such as Glantec® then they can apply for an Authorised Prescriber approval.
